It’s rumored that the production of the Nike SB Dunk High Mafia coincides with the last season of the Sopranos.
The included chili pepper / “Italian horn” keychain, coupled with the print on the insole and tongue tag does strongly suggest a Goodfellas / Mafia theme. Well, that along with the clothes and a pair of faux-horsehair dunk lows that all released around the same time.
When it comes to kicks with nearly all white uppers, a number of looks can work. I found these look great with light or dark denim and a white tee. If it’s cold out, throw on a burgundy hoodie with confidence! The red on the shoe is so minimal and matching up a little bit of red in your outfit works fine with these.
We don’t see Nike sending up Italians often, and being Italian myself, I felt it mandatory to at least own one of the two Mafia SB’s that came out. I had both at one point, but settled on this pair to keep permanently in the collection.
Materials
The materials on this pair are totally reminiscent of the shiny shoes a stereotypical mobster might have worn. These sport an entirely patent leather upper with contrast stitching and croc texturing on the swoosh. Overall the shoe is thick and well constructed and the PL seems to be holding up well a decade after it’s release, if not a little crease-prone.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike SB Dunk High Mafia fit true to size and are very comfortable as are most black box dunks.
